He served in the Revolutionary War. He was married to Prudence Baldwin.

Daniel and Prudence had 4 children: Daniel Jr. (born 1768); Esther (born 1769); Reuben (born 1775); and James (born Jan 11, 1780).

Daniel and Prudence joined the Oxford Congregational Church on April 24, 1768. But on June 10, 1781, some of the members of the church voted to dismiss both of them, recommending that they join the church in nearby Waterbury. So Daniel and Prudence moved to Waterbury, which was about 15 miles away. They lived there for the rest of their lives.

They were seen living there, in the 1790 Census Report, as well as the 1800 and 1810 Census Reports.
