Elwood was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Liberty, Idaho, to his parents, George Henry and Jemima Ann Alsop Parker. He completed his basic education in Southeastern Idaho.
Elwood joined the Army in March of 1942 and served during World War II in the First Special Service Force for 2 1/2 years. While on leave, Elwood spotted the love of his life, Emma Gilbert, who was teaching school in Wardboro, Idaho. Elwood and Emma were married in the Logan Temple on March 19, 1943. They were the parents of six children, Blane G. Parker, deceased; Susan Parker Vermillion, Myron G. Parker, Laureen Parker Groom, deceased, Kelly G. Parker and Tim G. Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, wife, one son, and one daughter.
He is survived by two sisters and one brother, four children, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Elwood was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions and callings. He loved to dance, garden, fish and hunt. He was proud to be an American and to have served his country. He was active in Scouting and enjoyed helping young men achieve their Scouting awards. He was an accomplished finish carpenter and took pride in his work.
