WAITSBURG, Wash., Nov. 23.-- Mrs. Vinnie Purrington, a resident of Waitsburg since 1883, died this morning. Mrs. Purrington was born in Bowdoinham, ME., in February 1838 to Benjamin Adams and ___ (Schofield) Adams.
With her husband and family, they were the first settlers in Whitman County, near Riparia, on the Snake River, the place being yet known as Purrington's Bar. Mr. Purrington had large land interests there and was an extensive raiser of sheep. He died here in 1887.
