Eighty-four year old Walter F., Likens, a retired railroader and a resident of DeKalb county all his life, died shortly after 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dr. J. A. Sanders hospital in Auburn. He was admitted to the hospital August 12. Death was attributed to complications.
Mr. Likens was born September 10, 1863. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Katherine Carnahan, who passed away in 1920.
Before he entered the hospital, resided with his son, Russell, at 903 Ensley, avenue, Auburn.
Surviving, besides the Auburn son, are Gary Likens, a son, who resides south of St. Johns; a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Gillman of Avilla and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Missionary church in Auburn with the Rev. Edgar Clauser, former pastor of the church and now a resident of Fort Wayne, officiating. Burial will be made in the Woodlawn cemetery. The body was taken to the Dilgard & Cline funeral home in Auburn.
