TOAST, NC ~ Mr. Jesse Thomas "Tom" Mitchell, 70, of Pipers Gap Road, Toast, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
He was born Feb. 26, 1935, in Collinstown, Stokes County, NC, to William R. "Will" and Bertha L. Hutchens Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was retired from Rubber Thread of Stuart, VA, and Lynne Hosiery of Mount Airy, NC and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Eddie Frans.
He is survived by two brothers, Bill (Helen) Mitchell and R. Wayne (Anita) Mitchell Sr. of Collinstown; two sisters, Frances Ann Mitchell Frans of Johnstown, NC and Sarah Lou (Junior) Mitchell Rogers of Collinstown; four nephews, Bob Frans of Pilot Mountain, NC, John Mitchell of Davidson, NC, Andy W. Rogers of Collinstown and Robert W. Mitchell Jr. of Collinstown; four nieces, Delana Mitchell Vickers of Winston-Salem, Mitzi Rogers Boyette of Rural Hall, NC, Kristi Rogers Tolliver of Mebane, NC and Julie Mitchell Slate of Collinstown; and special friends Debbie Southern and Rose, Jay Going, Mark Golding and friends from Mayberry Mall and C.F. Jones.
A funeral service and visitation will be held at 7 Sunday evening, Dec. 25, at Howell Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Collinstown Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Collinstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 2840 Collinstown Road, Westfield, NC 27053.
The family is being served by Howell Funeral Service of Mount Airy.
