The third child out of ten born to Albert & Louella (Potts)Alexander, He married Ardis Ione Reager on September 16, 1923 in Slope Co., North Dakota. To their union was born eight children.
Harlan enlisted for World War I on March 28, 1918, served in Co. H, 163rd Depot Brigade to April 22, 1918; Co. F, 139th Infantry, to discharge. Discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, May 2, 1919, as a Corporal.
Born of their union were four daughters, Lois Brown, Arlene Smith, Kay Horn, Jean Knowles and Phyllis, three sons, Lynn, Garry and Dean Alexander.
