MONTICELLO --- Services for Chase Funderburg Tinsley will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in St. James AME Church with burial in Southview Cemetery. Tinsley, 76, died Wednesday Jan. 19, 2000.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. Frederick D. and Ethel Funderburg. She attended Jasper County Training School in Monticello and Fort Valley Institute. She received her bachelor's degree from Spelman College and her master's degree in social work from Atlanta University. She served as dean of women and later as dean of students at Alcorn State University. She received a second master's from Indiana University. She was a teacher, counselor and principal in the San Diego, Calif., Unified School District. She worked for the California state Department of Education. She served as director of human resources for Chicago public schools.

Survivors include her husband, Holsey Tinsley ; children, Patricia McJunkins and Thomas O. McJunkins, both of Monticello; brothers, Ilon Owen Funderburg of Atlanta and George Newton Funderburg of Monticello; and one granddaughter.
