Mr. Gibbons was born in Cleveland and lived here 52 years. He was a retired metal polisher. For many years he wrote a column, "Marty's Squibs," in the old Union Leader, a local AFL publication. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
Surviving are his wife, Louise C.; son, Martin J., Detroit; daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Fackelman, Toledo, and nine grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the Coyle Mortuary, Collingwood Boulevard. The body will be in the mortuary after 7 o'clock tonight.
