Harriett 'Hattie' L Bennett was the daughter to Joseph S and Martha J Garrett Bennett. Her parents were married in Washington Co 30 January 1888. Joseph was from Ft Smith and Martha was of Fayetteville. Hattie was born in the Sulphur City community of eastern Washington Co, Arkansas; although, her obituary states Fayetteville which is a common reference. She married Walter C Ashbrook on 05 July 1905 in Washington Co, Arkansas.(Washington Co Marriage Book O, pg 310) Hattie and Walter appeared in the 1920 US Census, for Sallisaw, living with her parents. Mrs Ashbrook passed away in a local hospital due to a lengthy illness. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Her husband, Walter C. Ashbrook, survived her.
