Those that have researched the Shahan family, may have noticed that Samuel Shahan and Rebecca Wolf(e)'s children were dispersed, sometime after her death.
The following is what I have found in the 1860 U.S. Census:
~Amaziah (Emisire) Shahan, 16, in the household of William B. Brown in Monongalia County, Virginia/West Virginia.
~Christina Shahan, 15, in the household of Polly Kincaid in Marion County, Virginia/West Virginia.
~Sarah E. Shahan, 14, in the household of Maria Trickett in Monongalia County, Virginia/West Virginia.
~Almeda Shehan, 18 (even though her age is actually 12), in the household of James W. Mays in Monongalia County, Virginia/West Virginia.
~Solomon Shehan, 9, in the household of Joseph C. Reed in Taylor County, Virginia/West Virginia.
The Shahan/Miller Bible page, that has been floating around on Ancestry.com and is the profile picture for Solomon Shahan on WikiTree, clearly has the death dates written for others. Including his Mother. (Who passed away when Solomon was 18 months old.) But he IS NOT listed. If he would have passed away when others have thought, surely it would have been added.
I also believe that I may have located him in the U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments on Ancestry.com.
Until other information comes to light, this is my belief.
