Dr. Rahul Nath Dewan, 63, of Harness Lane, died at 10:45 p.m. July 30, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Dr. Dewan was born April 13, 1955, in New Delhi, India, the son of Rajinder and Binodni Sharma Dewan. He married Susan Anthony May 21, 1977. He was a Colonel in the US Army serving during the Gulf War. While in the Army, he also served at Walter Reed Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Center, as well as the National Institute of Health, all in Maryland. Dr. Dewan was transferred to Madigan Army Medical Center, in Washington, where he was head of the Oncology Department. Recently, Dr. Dewan was an oncologist at Columbus Regional Hospital for 20 years where he was able to bring joy and laughter to his patients even in difficult times, touching the lives of many people. He was also a member of Community Church of Columbus where he served as a small group leader. Dr. Dewan enjoyed many other activities, being a jack-of-all-trades, including electronics, plumbing, cars, and having certification as a locksmith. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Community Church of Columbus with Scott Hundley officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday. Survivors include his wife, Susan; sons, Rex Dewan of Louisville and Robert "Nathan" Dewan of Jeju, South Korea; brothers, Ravinder (Pam) Dewan of California, and Rakesh (Linda) Dewan and Raman (Becky) Dewan, both of Texas; and his sisters, Manjula (Bill) Gray and Anjula (Ed) Littleton, both of Washington.
