David was born December 23, 1936 to the late Nathan and Elvina (Amstutz) Gerber.
He married Leora Hostetler on July 20, 1963 and she survives.
David graduated from Dalton High School in 1955 and completed 1W service in 1957-59 at MCC headquarters in Akron, PA.
He retired from dairy farming on the family farm in Kidron.
He was a member of the Kidron Mennonite Church and faithfully listened to livestream services in his later years.
Dad enjoyed planting fruit trees, reading, listening to classical music and discussing family history.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Karen (Olin) Geiser of Dalton, Marla (Brent) Reinhardt of Goshen, IN and Nolan (Lori) Gerber of Kalona, IA;
12 grandchildren, Reuben (fiance Sophie Pearson), Elizabeth, Simeon, Jethro and Obadiah Geiser; Alex (Emily), Brooke (fiance Lucas Keyes), Mia and Jacoby Reinhardt; Sarena, Evelyn and Micah Gerber; siblings, Jim (Barb) Gerber, Barb Steiner, Norm (Kathy) Gerber and Aldis (Lupe) Gerber.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sonnenberg Village, 13497 Hackett Rd, Apple Creek, with Pastor Carl Wiebe officiating.
Friends and family may call from 9:30 - 11:00 am prior to services.
Private family burial will be held.
