Larry Joseph Holdmeier, 53, Portageville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems, Hayti. He was born March 6, 1948, at Washington, the son of Earl Holdmeier and wife Catherine, nee Kohler. Mr. Holdmeier served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and received a Bronze Star and other medals. On August 30, 1969, he was united in marriage to Donna Ritchey at St. Clair. Mr. Holdmeier was employed by Maverick Tube Corporation. He started his career at Union in 1980 and was general manager of the Arkansas Maverick plant, Blytheville, Arkansas, at the time of his death. Mr. Holdmeier was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 1745, the American Legion and the Blytheville Chamber of Commerce, serving two years on the board. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Holdmeier; father-in-law, Roy Welch Ritchey Sr.; grandparents, Henry and Emma Holdmeier, nee Strubberg, and Joseph Kohler; one brother-in-law, Richard Hoemann; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Hanneken, nee Ritchey. Mr. Holdmeier is survived by his wife Donna Holdmeier, Portageville; one son, Brian Holdmeier, Blytheville, Arkansas; one daughter, Shelley Holdmeier, Sullivan; his mother and stepfather, Catherine and Norris Kase, Washington; four brothers, Harry Holdmeier, Kenny Holdmeier, and Mike Holdmeier, all of Washington, and Steve Holdmeier, New Haven; four sisters, Linda Brunner and husband Wayne, Donna Meyer and husband Harold, and Jane Archibee and husband Mark, all of Washington, and Betty Herkenhoff and husband Mike, Union; his mother-in-law, Betty Ritchey, Cuba; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 29, at DeLisle Funeral Home, Portageville, with Rev. Denis Cebulak officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair. Memorials to the American Heart Association are preferred.
