Jonathon Randolph Jones, 85, died peacefully April 11, 2023 in Troy, Michigan. Jon was born on February 6, 1938 in Oklahoma and lived the majority of his life in Michigan. He graduated from Midland High School and Michigan State University. Jon retired after a successful career as a social worker for the State of Michigan. His life passion was assisting neglected and troubled youth in the process of turning negative behaviors into positive behaviors. Jon was happily married to Judy Arey who was his best friend and partner in life for the past 47 years.
Those left to cherish Jon's memory include his wife Judy, sister Tania Brown of Midland and three daughters, Annette (Paul) Fettig of Petoskey, Andrea (David) Rhoads of Kentucky and Lee Ann (Bud) Provenzano of Livonia. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, Vanessa (Karl) Reading, Nicole (Kevin) Voss, Rachel (Andrew) Gray, Sarah (Kneale) Gill, Kali (Tyler) Vincent, Adam Loar, Kelsey Fettig, Samantha Provenzano and Gabriella Provenzano; fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his precious fur-baby Lizzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Beryl M. Jones, Sr. and Ruth Eloise Jones Haefka, brothers Beryl M. Jones, Jr. and Linn Haefka, sister Thyra Anne Ruffino and his only son, Scott Jones.
After retirement, Jon and Judy had a natural ability to stay active both at their home in Troy and their winter residence in Fort Myers, Florida. Jon loved to bicycle, rollerblade, tinker on his classic cars and had a love for animals that was apparent by his dedication to animal rescue and adoption, especially cats.
The family will have a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.
