Born April 29, 1931, to Jose and Pedra (Guardado) Jimenez in St Joseph, he was a lifelong resident of St Joseph. He graduated from C.B.H.S. in 1950 and attended St Joseph Junior College and Missouri Western College. Peter returned to St Joseph in 1954 after serving our country in the United States Navy for four years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 359 and the Eagle's Lodge.
In 1992, Pete retired from the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department as a senior highway designer with 35 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, playing baseball and later umpiring the game. For many years he was a great bowler.
Pete married Pat Farris Fountain, the mother of his girls. They later divorced. He is survived by his four daughters, Catherine (Phil) Pinion of St Joseph, Rita (Arnie) Lindsey of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Theresa Hoelscher of Jefferson City, Mo., and Barbara (Ted) English of Kapolei, Hawaii; a stepson, David (Twila) Nelson of Sallisaw, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Robin (Broc) Shurtleff; 10 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Joseph and Frank Jimenez, both of St Joseph; a sister, Lola Moore of Hot Springs, Ark; and brothers-in-law, Paul Riviera of St Joseph and James (Linda) Leese of Overland Park, Kan.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his brothers, John who was killed in action during World War II; and Robert and Patrick Jimenez; and sisters, Consalo Szews and Aurora 'Alberta' Riviera.
