Nina Lorene Gifford Kelley, age 96, of Perryville, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016. She was born June 11, 1919 to Saul and Sally Stanford Gifford. She worked at the Cotton Mill, was a housewife, mother, and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Andrew Jackson (Bo) Kelley;
sons, Leon Kelley and AJ Kelley; daughter, Mary McCormick; grandson, Steve Kelley; great granddaughter, Hadleigh Kelley; sister, Lois Chancellor; and son in laws, Bill Shelley and John Purtle.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, she is survived by her daughters, Joyce Lankford (Lloyd), Carolyn Ruple (Ernest), Eyvon Doughty (Jerry), Liz Shelley, all of Perry County, Phyllis Purtle of Faulkner County, Angela Jordan (Daniel) of Louisiana; and sons, Elvis Kelley (Kim), Phillip Kelley, both of Perry County; 60 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; and 43 great great grandchildren. She was a woman of strong will, faith, and character who was full of love and laughter. She loved gardening, fishing, and music and would often sing to her babies and later with them. Nothing meant more to her than her family, close and extended, and she was never happier than when they were all gathered together around her to visit. When visiting her home you were always greeted with a hug, a kiss, a welcoming smile, a bite to eat, and made to feel right at home.
Graveside memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Harmony Cemetery with Daniel Jordan officiating. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
