Descendent of Joseph Loomis and Mary White Loomis of Windsor Ct. Joseph and his family arrived in Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony on 17 July 1638 on the Susan and Ellen; arrived in Colony of Connecticut in about 17 August 1639. Original homestead on the grounds of the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor CT.

Cyrenius was a Marshall at University of South Carolina. Later operated a boarding house in Columbia. In the same plot are his wife, Leah, and a daughter Mary Loomis Bennett and her husband. There is one unmarked grave in the plot, who may be Charles Edwin Loomis, who died in Atlanta December 30, 1906, and whose obituary states that he was buried in Elmwood. One son, John Harvey Loomis, is buried in Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, SC with his wife, Eliza Augusta Hendrix Loomis, and other members of his immediate family.
