A memorial service and celebration of life for Ronnie Collins, 73, of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church in Gainesville. All families and friends are welcome to attend. Ronnie died April 14, at his home in Gainesville.

Ronnie, also known as "Dad" and "Papa," loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Every deer season one could almost guarantee that "Papa Ronnie" would tag the biggest buck. He had an eagle eye and steady aim, and due to his impressive hunting skills, his grandkids gave him the nickname "the deer whisperer."

He loved his family and his friends very much. He was a hard worker. He was honest, and he was fair. If you ever met him on the road, it was a sure bet that you'd also be met with a huge wave and a big smile. All the stories he told throughout the years will live on, told by those who were blessed to hear them from him. It's all those memories that make Ronnie, or whatever name a person called him, a legend in his loved ones' eyes. He was and always will be loved and remembered by many.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carole (Laub) Collins; his children, daughter Tammy Mady and her husband Rick Mady, son Steve Collins and daughter Shannon Collins; seven grandchildren: James Collins, Brooke Collins, Chase Collins, Chandler Mady, Brendon Mady, Elizabeth Kinworthy and Samuel Kinworthy; four great grandchildren: Carter, Conner and Arabella Pool, and Hadlee Collins; as well as many other friends and loved ones.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Hubie and Ruby Collins; his sister Vena Shaffer and her husband Orville Shaffer; along with other loved ones, family, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mammoth Cemetery.
