Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hilda Erbes; and brother, Tom Erbes. He is survived by his son, Clinton Erbes of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter, Valerie Marek (Erbes) of Kentwood, MI; daughter, Kelly Erbes of Rockford, MI. Also left to mourn his passing are brothers, Paul Erbes of Grant, MI, and Dan Erbes of New Mexico; beloved nephew, Daryl Erbes; his wife, Kim from Grant, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
A heart felt thanks from Stephen's children, to Uncle Paul Erbes for the numerous times he took our father to appointments and even the simple things like paying dad's bills, or taking him to get new shoes. A tremendous thank you to our cousin, Daryl Erbes who was not just a nephew, but a true friend to our father throughout his life, lending support, helping dad get back home to Michigan safely; his wife, Kim, who made dad's day by bringing him a hamburger from his favorite restaurant, and for graciously opening up their home to dad in the last final months of his life. Thanks to Daryl and Kim for their tireless efforts in getting dad's things in order, and seeing to it that dad could leave this life with as much dignity and peace as possible. May the Lord Bless all those involved in the love and care shown to Stephen Erbes throughout the good times and the bad, while he struggled with his illness.
A Memorial service to honor the memory of Stephen will be given Friday, March 14, 2008, 11 a.m at North Casnovia Baptist Church, 1625 Canada Rd., Bailey, MI (231) 834-5952.
Steven Earl Erbes will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, in Riverside, CA.
