Funeral services for Edna Gladys Bean were held Saturday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m., at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Okemah. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
Edna Gladys Bean was born July 3, 1917, in Okemah to John and Retah Omelia McBride. She passed away Thurs., February 28 in Okemah at the age of 90.
Mrs. Bean had been a resident of the Okemah area most of her life. She and Donald Aubrey Bean Sr. were married October 15,1938 in Okemah; he preceded her in death July 27,1992. Mrs. Bean worked as a secretary for Ferguson's Manufacturing in Pharoah for more than 20 years and was also a longtime member of the St Paul's United Methodist Church in Okemah. She was involved with the Daughters of American Revolution and enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Retah McBride; her husband Donald A. Bean Sr.; one daughter, Edna DeAnn Pence; one brother, Byron McBride; one sister, Kathleen Houghton; and one son-in- law, Kenneth Ray Pence.
She is survived by her two sons,Donald Bean Jr. and wife Patty of Okemah and John Bean and wife Judy also of Okemah; one sister, Helen Rappe of Oklahoma City; one-sister-in law, Gaile Hodges of Okemah; one brother-in-law, Woodrow Gamble of Foley, Alabama; six grandchildren and 12
children.
Serving asactive pallbearer were Donald Aubrey Bean III, Donald Bean IV, Jason Bean, Douglas Anthony Lee, Colby Shandy,and Dalton Shandy.
Honorary bearers included Bill Sandy, Kevin Najera, Scott
Hildrebrand, C.J. Garrett, Douglas Danker, Vernon DaVault, and Jack Sawyer Hildebrand.
Donations are welcome to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Okemah.
Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Rev. Brian Matthews.
