Around 1812, they moved with their extended family from Crab Orchard, Tennessee to the Brownsville, Indiana area.
John died sometime between August 29 and October 1 of 1821 in Union County, Indiana. Then, about a year after his death, his wife Catherine died, also in Union County, Indiana. Their eight children were now parentless. The youngest was just two years old (Sarah age 25; Mary, age 24; Elizabeth, age 22; George, age 18; David, age 14; John, age 11; Henry, age 5; and Isaac, age 2). Mary and Elizabeth had already married and Sarah would soon marry. The five younger boys were placed under the guardianship of Catherine's brother-in-law Samuel Stover.
While his burial location is unproven, it is very likely he is buried here. This was the Miller family burial location while living in this area of Indiana. The one other possible place of his burial is nearby Richland Cemetery.
