Mrs. Emmie Lou Bell Porter, 94, of Franklin, Ga., died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Mrs. Porter was born Sept. 2, 1907 in Heard County, Ga. to the late Ike Floyd Bell and Stella Gay Jackson Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Winslow Porter. For many years Mrs. Porter served the children of Heard and Troup County as an elementary school teacher. She will long be remembered for her great love and devotion to educating children. Until the onset of her long illness, Mrs. Porter was a faithful member of the Salem United Methodist Church.

A funeral will be Friday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin, Ga. The Rev. Dr. Don Jolly and the Rev. Tom Lipham will officiate. Burial will be in the Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, Ga.

Surviving are sister, Annie Ruth Culpepper; sister-in-law, Jimmie Bell, both of Franklin, Ga.; niece Ann Bell of Cumming, Ga.; great-nephew, Joshua Franklin of Lilburn, Ga.; and a number of cousins.
