Verlie Ethel (Arnold) Garrett was born March 29, 1921 to George Ned and Jesse Frances (Tamsett) Arnold. She went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Verlie is proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed Garrett; five sons, Wes, Leon and Youl Garrett and infant twin boys; a brother, Amos Arnold; half brother, Raymond Arnold; six sisters, Joan Hayes, Wilma Arnold, Mildred Garrett, Opie Tatum, Obie Davidson and Arbie Hayes; four half sisters, Ruby Vincent, Cora Mae Reaper, Bertha Lee Arnold and Delina Arnold.

Verlie is survived by her daughter, Verletta Huff; daughters in law, Jane and Dorothy Garrett; a very special niece, Betty Seymore (Donnie); seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

At one time Verlie carried the mail on horseback, making the round trip daily from Banner to Jamestown earning $80 a month. She later retired after working thirty years for the J.K. Southerland Processing Plant. After retirement, Verlie enjoyed quilting, gardening and canning.

Verlie was a minister who pastored in many different churches in the area. She was a faithful member of the Faith Full Gospel Church in Banner, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Concord Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Chris Garrett and Brian Garrett officiating. Memories by Bro. Jim Dillard. Special music by Alvis Arnold and Cathy Cox. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Floral with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chuck Thompson, Brian Garrett, Brad Garrett, Lane Garrett, Deon Garrett and Danny Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Garrett, Donnie Seymore and Brother Jim Dillard.
