Geo. B. Eden, a resident of the Alexandria, Nebraska, vicinity for a number of years, passed away Monday, June 12, 1944, at his home in Belvidere. He lacked six days of reaching 71 years. George B. Eden was born June 18, 1873, in Minonk, Illinois, and came to Bruning, Nebraska, when he was 8 years old. The family settled on a farm east of Belvidere. On October 31, 1897, he married Florence Steel at the home of her parents west of Alexandria. They made their home near Belvidere for a year and then for 40 yeares lived in the vicinity of Alexandria. Here he made their home and was a familiar figure at every community gathering.
"In 1936 they moved to Gooding, Idaho, where Mr. and Mrs. Eden lived for three years. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Hilda Gaston of Reynolds, Nebraska; George Eden of Gooding, Idaho; Florence Gross of Boise, Idaho; Edith Knigge of Shoshone, Idaho; Grace Ryska of Kuna, Idaho; Pvt. Harry Eden of Fort Riley, Kansas; and Ida Lena Elam of Boise, Idaho. His wife, children, one great-grandchild, sixteen grandchildren, and two brothers, Chris and Ede Eden of Belvidere, survive him, and a host of relatives and friends will miss him greatly.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. James C. Hendrickson at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church, with internment at the Alexandria Cemetery.
