David Harris BASHFORD, son of Thomas BASHFORD and Barbarry CLINE. He married SARAH JANE HOOD October 17, 1861 in Daviess County, Missouri. She was born June 11, 1842 in Kentucky, and died March 28, 1922 in Missouri. Sarah the daughter of John J. HOOD and Elizabeth Ann SHARP.
Family tradition has it, David H. BASHFORD enjoyed giving "stump" speeches. He and D. H. Davis (owner of Davis Drug Co) in Gallatin, having long heated political discussions where tempers would flare and threats would be made. These debates would seem to last for an entire afternoon in the Davis business and always seem to end in a handshake and well wishes along with an invitation for David H. to come back.
It is document that at the OLD SETTLERS REUNION of August of 1906, Livingston County, MO, a speech was given by David Bashford, a resident of Daviess county since 1857.
