· William Charles Babb, age 78, passed away at his home on Sunday April 2, 2023. Born in Pickens County on Jan. 6, 1945 to Kitty Mae and Olon Babb. He graduated high school in 1963 from Palmetto High School in Pickens County where he played football and baseball. Charles spent the majority of his professional career in the banking industry beginning at the age 0f 26 at Merchants and Farmers Bank in Millport, AL. He moved his family to Marion County in the late 1970's where he continued his banking career. He was a founding member of Peoples Trust Bank where he retired in recent years but continued to serve on the Board of Directors and the loan committee. He was an active member of various service clubs and organizations throughout Marion County and held leadership roles in many, He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Johnnie Bonner Babb, Son, Steven (Kristi) of Hamilton, Daughter, Kristi Babb Hill of Tuscaloosa, Four Granddaughter: Jordan (Ethan) Lawler, Raegan Babb, both of Hamilton, Addisyn and Avery Hill both of Tuscaloosa and one great granddaughter, Tatum Lawler, One Sister, Billie Bain of Tuscaloosa, three nieces and extended family. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Brother, Donnie Babb and Brother-in-law: Roy Bain.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 5, 2023, 11:00 until service time beginning at 1:00 at the Hamilton First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Arbor Springs Cemetery in Reform, AL.
