Jed Henry Mooney
Jed Henry Mooney 91yr 3mo 26days, of Broken Bow, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Mr. Mooney was born November 12, 1916, at Sutherland to Jed Adelbert and Katherine Lydia (Scott) Mooney, who lived at Mayflower, McPherson Co. NE at the time of his birth, North of Sutherland. In 1920 they moved to Mason City, NE. where he attended elementary & high school.
On November 24, 1938 he married Hazel Glendora "Glennie" Whiteman daughter of Harve & Nellie (Dawson) Whiteman, in Seward, NE. To this Union were born Seven children, Celeste, Jed, Connie, Kathy, Verdna, Michael, Patricia. Mason City is where he lived, worked and raised his family most of his life. Jed & Glennie celebrated 55 years of marriage. He retired as a trucker and enjoyed traveling with his family.
Survivors include his sons Jed & Lynda (Ambrose) Mooney of Mason City, Mike & Kim (Wood) Mooney of Broken Bow, daughters Celeste & Ken Cox of Bertrand, Connie & Eldon McCandless of Broken Bow, Kathy & Dale Haller of Merna, Verdna "Mikki" Davis of Greenacres, WA, Patricia & Ron Maier of Grand Island: sister Verdna & Erroll Schue of Los Altos, CA, Sister-in-law Leah Mooney of Granite Bay, CA; 21 Grandchildren; 46 Great-Grandchildren; 6 Great Great Grandchildren; along with many Step Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Wife Glennie she died May 21, 1994. His parents Jed & Katie Mooney; sisters, Mae Mooney, Violet Stockdale, & Blanch Bernert; brother Jay Mooney; sons-in-law, Daryle Zlomke and Ronald Holscher; and grandsons, Joe Zlomke and David Davis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday March 12, 2008 at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery. Pallbearers are Scott Haller - James Zlomke - Jed Robert Mooney - Mitch Mooney - Tyler Weeder - Dustin Haller.
