Ray Aamodt, 78
Ray Aamodt was born Dec. 2, 1929, to John and Bertha Aamodt of Overly, N.D. He was raised and educated in Rolla, N.D. In 1947 he moved to Kellogg. He worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company until the company shut down operations in the 1980s. In 1977 he moved to Coeur d'Alene. He resided there until he moved to Nyssa, Ore., in September 2007 and where he remained until his death July 7, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Michele; by his first wife, Shirley.
He is survived by his daughters: Terri and her husband Bob Waibel of Nyssa, Shari and her husband Darryl Kamna of Hillsboro, Ore., and a son Jon Aamodt and his wife Cheryl of Hillsboro, Ore. He leaves behind eight grandchildren. He also left behind one sister Jeanette McBain and three brothers Robert, Larry and Marvin Aamodt.
Ray was a very good musician and entertainer. He started singing and playing the guitar, trombone and piano at a very young age. He eventually quit playing the guitar and trombone and starting playing accordion. He entertained professionally throughout the state of Idaho, Washington and Montana for many years. He had his own band in which he was the lead singer and piano player. The Grand Ole Opray came to Kellogg, and engaged Ray to play piano for them. That was one the greatest highlights of his life. When he retired from entertainment, he enjoyed singing Karaoke with his friends and still entertained many hearts.
