September 8, 1933 - March 22, 2023 (age 89)
Barbara was born on September 8th, 1933 and passed away on March 22nd, 2023 at the age of 89
Barbara Lee Dalton Farnsworth (Bobbie), Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, passed in her daughter's home in Mesa, Arizona, on March 22, 2023, at the age of 89.
Bobbie was born September 8, 1933, in Cedar City, Utah, to Alonzo Ambrose and Bertha Dalton. When she was young, her family moved to Beaver, Utah. Her father owned Beaver Home Furnishings on Main Street and her family lived above the store. Bobbie grew up on Main Street and saw almost every movie that came to town. On one occasion, she went to the movies, and when she returned home, her baby brother Fred had been born.
After graduating from Beaver High School in 1951, she attended the University of Utah, where she played the clarinet in the marching band, and studied business education. It was during her second year in college when her younger brother Paul was born. Allen, the love of her life, and Bobbie both grew up in Beaver and attended kindergarten through high school together. Allen enlisted in the US Army after his freshman year of college at BYU. Wanting to make sure Bobbie would be there when he got back, he took an 18-day furlough and they were married in the St George Temple on February 3, 1954. Allen headed to Germany with his US Army unit while Bobbie continued her education at the University of Utah where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Education. She then took a job at the university as secretary to the Dean of Women.
Allen finished his military service, returned to Bobbie, and attended the University of Utah. They lived in the Garden Park Ward in Salt Lake City and had many fond memories from their time there. Allen and Bobbie moved to St Louis, Missouri, where Allen attended Washington University Dental School. Two daughters, Jan and Julie were born during their time there. After completing dental school, they spent some time in Duchesne, Utah, where a third daughter, Bonnie, joined the family. In 1961, Allen and Bobbie eventually moved to Mesa, Arizona, to start a dental practice. Three more children joined their family: Steven, Christopher, and Amanda.
Bobbie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings as well as supporting Allen as Bishop and Stake President. Allen and Bobbie received a call to serve as Mission President and companion in the newly created Texas Houston East Mission from 1990 to 1993. They loved their time in Texas, the people in Texas, and their missionaries. After their mission, Allen and Bobbie moved back to Beaver where they worked as ordinance workers in the St. George Temple. Allen unexpectedly passed in May 1995 and Bobbie remained in Beaver to be close to family.
Bobbie was very friendly and loved visiting with people. She loved music. She played the piano and she learned to play the organ for church services. Bobbie loved to read, especially children's books. She would lend her books out to her grandchildren and people in Beaver. In her early years, she did a lot of knitting sweaters and sewing dresses for her daughters.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Bertha Dalton, her brother Fred Dalton, and her husband and the love of her life, Allen Farnsworth. Bobbie is survived by her brother Paul (Lana) Dalton, her sister-in- law JoAnn Dalton, her six children and their spouses, Jan (Ray) Richards, Julie (Wendell) Beck, Bonnie (Chad) Campbell, Steven (Wendy) Farnsworth, Chris (Melanie) Farnsworth, Amanda (Doug) Riley, 27 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren.
