Howard B. Hyde, Jr. went to be with the LORD at age 67 on March 21, 2023. He passed away while surrounded by his loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.
Howard was born in Amelia, Virginia on July 2, 1955 to the late Howard B. Hyde, Sr. and Rachel H. Hyde. He was a standout athlete while attending Amelia County High School and graduated in 1974. He went on to attend St. Paul's College, graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1978. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a 2ndLieutenant in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps, ending his military career as a Captain. Howard later retired from Dominion Enery after 29 years of service.
Family meant everything to Howard, and he demonstrated his love of family through deeds. Whether serving as a room parent and field trip chaperone for his daughters' classes through their school years, helping mentor and serve as a role model for young men in the family, reaching out and assisting older family members, Howard showed that he was the epitome of family love. He could always be found standing over the grill at family functions!
Howard was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and enjoyed serving in his community through his chapter, Tau Rho of Fredericksburg. He had recently joined American Legion Post 329 in King George to further his community involvement and commitment.
Besides tinkering with his 1954 Buick and completing home improvement projects, Howard enjoyed vacationing and living around the world, meeting new people, and making friends—he never met a stranger. He became the ultimate "road warrior" after acquiring his RV, driving across the United States.
Howard made an indelible mark on all he knew. He was truly a MAN of consistency, courage, and strength whose wise counsel will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynnette T. Hyde; daughters, Stephanie Imperial, Heather Johnson (Linwood), and Morgan Hyde; his four grandchildren, Joseph Imperial, Jr., Howard Imperial, Bradley Johnson, and Rachel Johnson. He is also survived by his siblings, Carolyn Carroll (Henry), Mary Harris (Lonnie), Clinton Hyde (Virginia), Clyde Hyde (Delores), Blanche Jefferson (Charles), Anna Bowers (Willie), and Rev. Emanuel Hyde, Jr. (Betty); His sister, Lucy Ross preceded him in death.
