Walter W. Aldredge, a man who was cherished by his family, friends, and community, passed away on March 25, 2023, at the age of 79. Born on June 9, 1943, in Grady County, Georgia, Walter was the son of Clayton and Virginia Aldredge. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and sister Vivian Burdett. Survivors include his wife: Patsy Fowler Aldredge; sons Keith (Brigitte) and Ben (Jodi); brother Jimmy Aldredge (Betty), and his sister Linda Halstead (Mickey). Walter and Patsy were blessed with five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Patrick, Craig, Bailey, and Riley Aldredge.
Walter served in the United States Air Force for four years and was a proud veteran. After his service, he settled down in Thomasville, GA, with his beloved wife Patsy, whom he was married to for over 60 years.
Walter owned Aldredge Motor Co in Thomasville from 1978 to 2008, where he provided exceptional service to his customers. He was highly respected for his business acumen and was an active member of the Thomasville community. Walter was a member of First Baptist Church Thomasville. In his working career, he was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club. Walter received a Cross of Military Service Award from the John B. Gordon 383 UDC in honor of his Confederate ancestor. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and country, as well as his passions, which included bird hunting, target shooting, and motorcycle touring. Walter's family and friends will deeply miss him, and his legacy will live on through the memories he created with them.
Pallbearers for the service are Mike Fowler, Charles Fowler, Glenn Nessmith, Rocky Thomas, Steve Aldredge, and Davy Marchant.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home 5-7PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 10AM at First Baptist Church Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jimmy Clanton will officiate.
