This is a poem my daughter wrote for her PawPaw the night he died:

You're Not Really Gone
We knew it was your time to go we could see it in your face,
But we're relieved cause now you're in a better place.
You'll no longer hurt you'll no longer be in pain,
And it will hurt everytime someone mentions your name.
It's gonna be hard but we'll get through it,
But there's no way we'll ever forget.
The man that cared about so many and was hated by few,
You could go to him;no matter the situation he always knew what to do.
Some called him brother, one called him husband, grandkids called him pawpaw, others called him dad.

He didn't have much but if you needed it he'd give you what he had.
He's gonna be missed by many, never forgotten, and he'll always be loved.
Anytime we want to say hey all we'll have to do is look up above.
He's not really leaving us he'll always be with us in our hearts,
No matter how many miles away we're never gonna be that far apart.
Even though you may be gone one thing will always be true,
No matter where you are we'll Always Love You!!

God saw he was getting tired,
And a cure was not to be:
So he put His arms around him
And whispered,"Come with me."
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away:

Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the Best!
