Charles Haddon Winter was born October 17, 1933, in Modesto, CA and entered into His Savior's presence on March 21, 2023. He was 89 years of age. Charles was born in Modesto, California to Frederick and Celia Winter. He graduated from San Bernardino (California) Junior College and Grace College, and attended Grace Theological Seminary at Winona Lake, Indiana. On June 14, 1957, Charles married Marilyn Rose Shoemaker at her parent's family farm home near Argos, Indiana.

In 1959 he and Marilyn were called to serve as recording engineer and secretary with Missionary Tapes, Inc., in Altadena, California. This was a faith ministry providing language broadcasts to missionary radio stations overseas. They were privileged to help "give the winds a mighty voice."

In 1967 he was called as pastor of the Harrah Grace Brethren Church in Harrah, Washington. In 1970 the founders of Missionary Tapes asked him to consider returning to help during a difficult time for them. The family returned to Pasadena. They were there until 1973 at which time the Harrah GBC again extended a call to him to be their pastor. The family gladly returned in the fall of 1973, and he served as pastor until 1995. During that time, he was able to be part of the planning and building of a new church facility in Harrah. He also enjoyed a long association with Clear Lake Grace Brethren Camp. During this time, he obtained his Amateur Radio License as N7AAG and continued to enjoy that hobby until his death.

He resigned in late 1995 and the Winter's made their home for part of the following year in Indiana. There he enjoyed being a beekeeper's apprentice. Confident that the Lord would continue His faithful leading in their lives and that proved that to be so when he was contacted by Sun Steel in Sunnyside and asked to develop a Human Resources department for the company. He and Marilyn moved to Sunnyside in late 1995 and he worked for Sun Steel as Human Resources Manager and later with CANAM when they bought the company. In 2002 he began serving on staff as Associate Pastor of Senior Adult Ministries at the Sunnyside GBC. He retired in 2011 but continued a card, letter and visitation ministry with seniors. He enjoyed writing many devotional articles, as well as other published articles.

"God is faithful" was reflected in their lives. The faithfulness of God touched every aspect of their walk with Jesus. He met every need that they had - whether it be direction, wisdom, medical care, vehicles, peace, a home, contentment - He did "exceeding abundantly above all that they could ask or think..." Their lives were blessed to touch other lives for Christ's sake.

And so "Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end." Eph. 3:20-21

He is survived by one son, Stephen of Honolulu, HI. He is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Beth, of Palmer, Alaska and Tammy of Selah, WA and 8 grandchildren: A.J.(Shayla) Winter of Wenatchee, Tyler Winter and Makayla (Jon) Winter of Selah; Anna (Dusty) Pianalto, Cathy (John) Ohmann, Becky (T.J.) Moyer, Ben (Suzi) Winter and Sarah Winter, all of Palmer, Alaska; two great-grandsons, Gunner and James as well as, six great-granddaughters, Wren, Tali, Theia, Freya, Myra and Maven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his son, Brian, his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

His life verse was Ephesians 1:6: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
