120th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment organized in Columbus, Indiana December 1863 - March 1864.

[Jackson Cracraft was born in 1828 in Monroe Co., In. In 1850, he was living in Polk Twp with his wife Margaret Miller (YOB 1826). In the early 1850's Jackson was one of the early members
of the Chapel Hill Methodist Church. Jackson was a farmer.Margaret and
Jackson divorced.Jackson remarried to Julia Ann Stewart (9-13-1844 to 11-8-1917) who was believed to have "powers" including the power to witch water. Jackson served with the Union Army during the Civil War. He enlisted for 3 years on 1-2-1864 in Columbus, In as a Private in Co. H of the 120th Indiana Infantry. He reported for duty on 3-10-1864. He was promoted to corporal on 8-17-1864. On 6-17-1865, Jackson was mustered out of the service with the rank of corporal. Jackson died on 4-4-1869 and is buried in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Monroe Co., In. --Cracraft Proud ]
