Thomas M. Aidala, Jr., 45, died peacefully on March 15, 2023, at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls. Born in Akron on March 24, 1977, to Thomas Sr. and Therese Aidala, Tom was a lifelong resident of Summit County. He was a 1995 graduate of North High School and briefly attended the University of Akron before joining the City of Cuyahoga Falls as a substation electrician. Tom took immense pride in his role with the City and found great satisfaction, first in learning from his mentors, and then in teaching his successors. He retired in the summer of 2022 after 24 years with the crew. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, as well as his uncle Tony Gillespie. He is survived by his devoted wife Rachel (Mesek) Aidala; parents, Tom Sr. and Therese; brother Paul (Royal); sister Adrianne Tomlinson (Chris); mother-in-law Elaine Mesek; sister-in-law Erin Frazee (Tim); nephew Aaron Aidala and nieces Avery and Addison Aidala and Lennon Frazee. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as scores of cherished friends. Husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and mentor: Tom will live forever in our hearts, and his unmistakable laugh will not be soon forgotten. Tom's love, loyalty, compassion, and courage knew no limits. The family wishes to thank the truly compassionate doctors and nurses of the ICU at Western Reserve Hospital for their care of our Tom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, March 23, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Avenue, Akron. The burial following the Mass will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to the Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis, 3838 Massillon Road, Suite 360, Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
