June "Carolyn" Woodall Davis, of Boones Mill, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. Carolyn was born in Bassett, Va., to the late Bobby Ray Woodall and Myrtle Handy Woodall.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, John Franklin Davis, III; and brother, Lonnie Ray Woodall. Carolyn was the Assistant Director to the Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) in the Department of Social Services for approximately twenty of her forty-two years of service with the Commonwealth. She was responsible for approximately one-third of all child support cases in the Commonwealth of Virginia and oversaw the management of seven DCSE offices in Western Virginia. Through her tireless efforts, many children received support that otherwise would not have materialized. She retired from DCSE in 2013. Carolyn was one of those rare individuals who gave more than she got, never returning a hurtful word, even if warranted. A devoted Christian, she exemplified the characteristics and traits of generosity, caring, loving, forgiveness, unselfishness, thoughtfulness, and selfless service. She set the example in word, deed, and effort, never asking anyone to shoulder more responsibility or effort than she was willing to put forth. Carolyn had a tough life and suffered the loss of her mother, father, brother, and husband in a relatively short period of time. Through all the adversity, she never complained nor faltered. She was the rock everyone else could depend on, and set the example of dedication and dependability. She set high standards and lived up to those standards personally and professionally. Carolyn truly left her mark on society through her selfless contributions and has left this world significantly better than she found it.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Lewis Woodall (Shirley); sister, Opaline Spencer; sister-in-law, Sandy Woodall; nephews, Jacob Woodall (Marian), Woody Woodall (Nicole), and Brad Spencer (Robin); nieces, Tracy James (Kenneth), Amy Durrance (Jason), Emily Hutchins (Jeremy), and Jaime Woodall; and great nieces and nephews, Sarah, Robert, Derek, Buxton, Lonnie, and Hayes.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, Roanoke, Va., officiated by Pastor Joanna Paysour.

Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
