Dorothy Ann Ames, age 88, of the Schuyler Lake, passed away on Sunday March 12, 2023 in Bassett Medical Center.

She was born November 22, 1934 in Earlville, and daughter to the late Harry O. and Marion Cooper Gott. She was and educated in Edmeston, graduating from Edmeston High School. She first worked for the Utica Telephone Company, then Norwich Cornell Cooperative Extension and for twenty seven years with Bassett Hospital. In 1991 she became a Gold Star Mother of her son David Ames who made the ultimate sacrifice for his nation, during the Persian Gulf War. Dorothy found comfort in garden growing many different types of flowers, she enjoyed bird watching and on her farm she loved her goats and horses. She was a member of the Schuyler Lake Methodist Church.

Surviving her are her daughter Lisa Jahnke of Cooperstown, four brothers Robert Gott and his companion Brenda of Cussetta Georgia, Thomas Gott and his wife Ruth of Edmeston, James Gott and his wife Chris of Burlington, Brian Gott and his wife Andrea of Glen Rock, PA, and two sisters Frances Radziewicz and her husband Leonard of Frankfort, Bonnie Weatherbee and her husband Steve of Utica, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and son David she was preceded in death by her brother William Gott.

A graveside service will take place later this spring in Taylor Hill Cemetery in Edmeston.
