Newton married Dorothy Norrell on his 23rd birthday. He is survived by his wife, brothers ~ Raymond and Luther, sisters ~ Christine and Betsy, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Newton was an Army veteran of World War II where he served in the medical corp. A graduate of Howard College (now Samford University), he retired from Lloyd Noland Hospital as a comptroller. Newton was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church.
