Sgt. Bobby Rapp of Sonora, California attended Sonora Elementary and Sonora High School and had plans of going to college at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, to major in Kinesiology. He wanted to become a physical therapist after graduation but his main goal was to have a family. The outdoorsman and a talented athlete grew up in the California Gold Country town of Sonora. He was an avid skier who loved going to Dodge Ridge along side, as well as competing on the slopes with, his brother. He expressed his hope to have a run named in his memory. At his own request he had a full military funeral with the song "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin playing in the background. Bobby was killed when a suicide bomber drove a car wired with explosives into the gates of an Afghan government building he was guarding in the Sabari District of Afghanistan. Bobby had one year left of his commitment to the military and he was originally scheduled to come home in January, but his unit's tour was extended to mid-April. He was 22.
