Cloris Belle Abbott died Friday, April 28, 1989, in Salem. She was 81.

She was born in Missouri and married Gilbert Aaron Abbott on Dec. 23, 1923, in Wichita, Kan. She came to the Salem area in 1947 from Oklahoma.

She was a domestic supervisor for the Methodist Home for 17 years, and she retired when she was 73. Her husband died in 1963. She loved bingo, camping and shopping, and she was a member of the Salem Eagles.

Survivors include her sons, James L. of Keizer and Vernon "Pete" of Stayton; daughters, Sarah E. Reed and Clara B. Wolf, both of Salem, and Beulah M. Donley of Keizer; and brother, William A. Evans of Shreveport, La. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
