Goes Down With Machine
Hebron, Neb. -- While crossing Rose creek bridge, in the southeast corner of Thayer county, Friday night, M. M. Bass, who was running a threshing machine over the highway without first planking the bridge; lost his life. He had gotten about half way across when the bridge fell and the engine and tender went down. When taken out of the creek Bass' hat was still on his head, but his neck was broken, otherwise he was not much disfigured. he lived three miles north of Hubbell, was about forty-five years of age and leaves a wife and ten children, the oldest about eighteen years of age.He was husband to Rachel Cline and together they had 10 children. When he died his youngest was 4 months old.He was killed when a flood came threw and weakened the timbers on a bridge he needed to cross. He got on the bridge with his steam engine thrasher and it collapsed sending him into the Rose Creek. He is buried in the Cemetery on the Hill in Hubble but this app won't take that as the place.
