From Shirley Summers: Winter was born June 17, 1678 at Marshfield, son of John and Martha (Winter) Hewett. He was married to Hannah (Frost) Hewett. Winter inherited from his grandfather, Christopher Winter, Governor's Island located seaward of Green Harbor River near Marshfield. it became known as Hewett's island for many years. Winter raised sheep there as his grandfather had done before him.
