Audrey J. Allen, 88, of New Kensington, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Willows of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Oakmont. She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Lackawanna, N.Y., to the late John and Louise Mac Perkowski and also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul V. Allen Jr., in February 1999 and sisters Helen Kutzer, Stella Metzler and Jean Pelino. Mrs. Allen spent her childhood in Leechburg and then moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she was an office assistant for Drs. Reuben Kayser and Moses Silverman. In 1951, she took a job as an editorial clerk for the Navy Material Catalog Office, Brooklyn. In 1959, she transferred to Philadelphia, where she worked in the cataloging division of the Defense Industrial Supply Center before retiring in March 1980. She and her husband moved to New Kensington in 1986, and she was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell. Mrs. Allen enjoyed bowling, crafts, puzzles and playing cards. Surviving are sister Mildred Szarnicki, of Englewood, Fla.; brother Alfred (Virginia) Perkowski, of Lower Burrell, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Gilpin Township.
