PAULA WHARTON DOBSON, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at St. Francis Nursing Home of Memphis. She was born in Trimble, Tennessee and raised in Kenton, Tennessee where she attended Kenton High School before moving to Memphis in 1949 and was a longtime member of Berclair Church or Christ. Mrs. Dobson was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey L. Dobson and is survived by her two sons, Robert A. (Bobbie) Wharton of Nashville and Joseph L. (Cathey) Dobson of Memphis; three grandchildren, Alan Wharton, Karen Mayo, both of Nashville and Kate Dobson of Memphis; one step-granddaughter, Paige Lansing of Memphis; four great-grandchildren andtwo step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel with the interment to follow in Memory Hill Gardens. The family has requested memorials be sent to Berclair Church of Christ, 4536 Summer Ave., Memphis, Tennessee 38122. "Paula" was the daughter of Lillie A McMacklin and William Joseph N Tillman. Her father had already raised his first family with 7 children and was 33 years older than her mother. He died when Pauline was about 5 and her mother remarried to a Ben Brewer. Pauline first married Robert Gavin Wharton on Jan 11, 1929 in Gibson County, Tennessee. They had one child, Robert Angus Wharton, before they separated. Pauline then married Aubrey Lee Dobson on Feb 9, 1950 and they had a son Joseph Lee Dobson in Nov 1950.
