Rev. James B. Brennock, 68, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Cohoes, died early today in Leonard Hospital, Troy, following a brief illness.
Although he had been in ill health for some time, he had been fulfilling his pastoral duties until yesterday, being taken to the hospital last night.
Survivors are a niece, Mrs. Paul Carney, and two nephews, Thomas and James Brennock, all of Santa Clara, Calif.
A native of Albany, Father Brennock attended Cathedral Academy before receiving his A.B. and M.A. degrees from Niagara University where he also attended Our Lady of Angels Seminary.
He was ordained at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany in 1921 by Most Rev. Edmund F. Gibbons, D.D.
Father Brennock's initial assignment was at St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer, where he remained until 1923. He then served as assistant pastor of St. Luke's Church, Schenectady, for ten years before going to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Albany, from 1933 to 1938.
He subsequently served as pastor of St. George's Church, Pittstown, until 1943 when he as assigned to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Mohawk where he remained for 13 years.
Father Brennock assumed the pastorate of St. Patrick's Church, Cohoes, in 1960, following the death of Rev. Francis P. Anthus.
