Early on, Phyllis worked at Sealy in Rensselaer, IN before becoming a daycare provider in Francesville. Her medical career started at Parkview Haven Retirement Home where she worked as a QMA. She retired as an LPN after nearly 30 years of helping and caring for others. In addition to working at Parkview Haven, Phyllis also worked at several area nursing homes.
Phyllis was a devoted member of the Winamac Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school, VBS, and Children's church. For many years, she was a local Girl Scout Leader.
She enjoyed reading, sewing and spoiling her grandchildren. Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her husband; four children; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two siblings; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Coomer.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN and from 10-11 AM on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Winamac Church of the Nazarene in Winamac, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Martin Burns officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 3 PM at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN with Pastor Rodney Johnson officiating.
