Jacob would have to have chemotherapy to treat the type of cancer that he had.
It was during the long hard struggle with the medical treatments that Jacob started having Sunday School lessons with his Great-Aunt Gracie, because he was in treatment and every precaution was being taken to protect him, his lessons were held over the phone. Jacob was smart and so mature, many people would say that conversations with him were like talking to a man not a child.
His parents asked me to read the following at his funeral, it was written by his Aunt Jeanie.
Jacob was a typical boy. When he was attending Dillonvale
elementary, he made a poster saying he wanted to be a firefighter, as he got older, he wanted to be a doctor.
He adored his cat Garfield and his little dog Roscoe. He loved riding his bicycle, his "Harley" up and down the street. Primus and Optimus Prime were his favorite transformers and Blue Eyes White Dragon was his favorite Yu-Gi-Oh. He liked Sponge Bob and Danny Phantom. He liked walking to Mc Donalds for breakfast or lunch, sometimes both. He liked T-n-T pizza, even if he didnt eat the crust. He enjoyed singing along with Toby Keith, and listening to Martina McBride, Trace Adkins and even some Kid Rock once in a while. He loved his mommy and dad. He loved his Grammie. He thought Victoria was something else. Reese's Cups were his very favorite candy.
I think he liked arguing with Katie, Sara and Ian just as much as he loved playing with them in the snow, and going to the Kids' Center dances together.
He wanted little Bobby to take him fishing. It was freezing cold and the lake was frozen over, but Jacob still wanted to go.
Jacob thought the world of his friend Ryan, and was blessed to have such a good friend by his side. He also thought the world of his 4th grade class at Burgettstown Elementary and they loved him. Jacob was atypical in that he touched so many lives in his 10 years.
To his family, friends, doctors, nurses, and all who knew and loved him, Jacobs legacy is this...
"JESUS HAS MY BACK"
