He and his wife Rose (nee Korostoff) continued to use the surname Katz, although by 1940 their son and two daughters had assumed the surname Kaye. Their eldest daughter Henrietta "Henny" Kaye became an accomplished actress. Their middle son Irving Allan Kaye attended Michigan State College and became a chemist, then by 1950 was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Their youngest daughter Florence Kaye (1921–2006) married Sidney Gittleman (1920–2004) in 1951 and raised a family. Florence's obituary mentions "many nieces and nephews".
