"TROY A service will be held Tuesday for Ada E. Tallmadge Whalen, 77, of Troy, who died Thursday at her home. Mrs. Whalen was born in Green Island. She was a bookkeeper for the city of Albany for more than 10 years. She then worked as a sales clerk at Stanley's Department Store for about 20 years, until her retirement in 1981. She was the widow of John J. Tallmadge and Thomas E. Whalen. Survivors include a daughter, Carol M. Tallmadge of Troy and a grandson. Services will be held at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany, and at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions may made to the American Lung Association, 8 Mountain View Ave., Albany, NY 12205."
