Sophie Mae Adcock, 92, of Houston, Texas, passed away March 1, 2023.

She was born in Waller, Texas on January 3, 1931 to John and Katie Wawarosky, as their youngest of 6 children. Sophie graduated from Jeff Davis High School.

She met the love of her life, Donald Adcock, while in High School. They were married, had 3 children and shared nearly 62 years together. Sophie was a wonderful, loving mother, involved in their every activity and interest.

Her passion was spending time with family and they were a huge part of her everyday life. There was seldom a day without a phone call or visit. Vacations, holidays and gatherings with them were her special joy.

Sophie briefly worked for the "Phone Company" as a draftsman, before taking on the full-time job as a military wife, mother and homemaker. She served the Lord at Our Redeemer, Beautiful Savior and Our Savior Lutheran Churches, for many years as a member of the LWML, sewing circles and made many beautiful banners to adorn and enhance the services.

She and Don enjoyed restoring antique cars. They were lifetime members of the AACA and Space City T's, where they shared many adventures. They drove their beloved antique cars from the Gulf shores to the Rocky Mountains and everywhere in between. They also participated in the making of several TV movies and mini-series, meeting many celebrities along the way.

Some of Sophie's many hobbies included sewing, crocheting, painting and she never met a craft project she didn't like. She also kept the family tree.

She was always fun and engaged everyone in playing games and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was affectionately called the "Farkle Queen", for always winning at her favorite dice game.

Sophie is survived by son, Ted Adcock and wife, Judy. Daughter, Nancy Carter and husband, David. Brother-in-law, Floyd Adcock. Grandson, Aaron Adcock and wife, Danna. Grandson, Anthony Adcock. Great-Grandson, Jayden Adcock and Great-Granddaughter, Lily Adcock. And numerous Nieces and Nephews that loved her dearly.

A Visitation for Sophie will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4:30 - 7:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060.
